After participating in Indian Idol, Meiyang Chang changed his career from singer to actor in Badmash Company, now he will be hosting a Bollywood Awards Ceremony at IIFA in the first week of June.
The actor will also host a soccer-based reality show, called Soccer Superstar, on a sports channel. Confirming this news, Meiyang says,
“We’ll get some of the best young talent from across the country for the show, which is based on an international format. We’ll travel to the football hubs across the country, like Goa, Kolkata, Sikkim and Kerala, to scout for talent. The mentors and judges on the show will be from the soccer fraternity.”
Though Meiyang is not much into soccer, but he says, his room-mate was there, so he knows little bit about it,
“My room-mate Prashant Tamang is. But there’s a need to do this show as there’s such an overdose of cricket.”
In addition to his filmy career, he is bit practical,
“That could be because Vir (Das) and I are not conventional looking. I hope they repeat us some time in future. But it has to make business sense for them. I’m realistic about one thing — I won’t get to do 3-4 movies a year. I’d like to see a time when a character doesn’t have to be a Punjabi or a Bengali. There’s a mental block about people who look unconventional.”
Asking about did he miss TV, Chang says
“Not really. My priority is acting. Although I love music and it’s an integral part of my life, I never thought of it as a career. Because I was part of a singing competition, people expect too much from me as a singer. But I haven’t got any playback offers.”
