One woman show in ‘Toh Baat Pakki’

Sharman Joshi and Tabu in 'Toh Baat Pakki'

Here, Tabu is coming back again with her new release, ‘Toh Baat Pakki’ directed by Kedar Shinde. This time, Tabu along with Sharman Joshi is taking a major responsibility to make this movie successful. Don’t know, whether she will be to do or not!

The plot of the movie is based on a B-city center and carries Indian parents’ attitude of getting a suitable groom for their daughter. Here, Rajeshwari, played by Tabu is playing a character of middle-class Indian woman who is searching a suitable groom for her sister, named Nisha played by Yuvika Choudhary. Rajeshwari is married to Saxena community and finding the most suitable Saxena boy for her sister. The story starts when she meets with Rahul, played by Sharman Joshi, who is studying engineering, and she finds a great thriving career for him. Unlikely, he is not interested in the marriage initially, and then she smartly brings her sister in front of him, thinking that once he will see her sister, he will not be able to refuse her proposal.

Her idea worked out when Rahul falls in love with Nisha and they started going together. Then marriage is fixed “Toh Baat Pakki”. The story takes a swing, when Rajeshwari meets another Saxena boy, named Yuvraj, played by Vatsal Seth, who works with company and has a permanent job. Now, she started throwing same tricks to Yuvraj to engage him with her sister. Rahul understands the tricks of Rajsehwari and applying the same tricks to her without knowing his intentions. The film is all about this and climax ends with who will be the groom of Nisha.

Like many directors, it seems that Kedar Shinde is also inspired by Priyadarshan, Basu Chatterjee and Hrishikesh Mukherjee. Though the film has some magnificent moments, but at several points, the humor of the movie falls down. I think, Kedar has not realized that those films were masterpieces and full of humor.
