Yash Raj Films Says No to Debutant Directors

From the last few years, Yash Raj Films has been promoting new directors, but sadly all of the films including Jhoom Barabar Jhoom, Ta Ra Rum Pum, Aaja Nachle, Laga Chunri Mein Daag, and recent one Lafangey Parindey have not able to make their impact on the box-office. After seeing these failures, Yash Raj Films has taken a tough decision that the production would not assign any debutant directors will not be part of their upcoming projects in 2011.

All next three flicks are big-budget movies; Dhoom 3 will be directed by Tashan director Vijay Krishna Acharya, who has recently brushed up his directorial skills by working with Mani Ratnam in Raavan; the second film is director Kabir Khan’s magnum opus, while third will be directed by Yash Chopra himself.

Audiences might think why Yash Raj Films are taking Vijay Krishna Acharya instead of Sanjay Gandhvi, who was director of Dhoom and Dhoom2. Then answer is that Sanjay has already completed the three film contract with YRF. A source says,

“Many developments in YRF hint at the fact that Victor, who is now back after having worked with Mani Ratnam, will direct Dhoom 3 and not Sanjay Gadhvi, who directed Dhoom and Dhoom 2. Also, Sanjay, he has completed his three-film contract with YRF. Ditto for Aditya Chopra, since fast-paced thrillers are not Aditya’s forte.”

While Kabir’s film will star only A-listers, we hear Aamir Khan will listen to the script of Dhoom 3 soon.
A source said,

“It would be great if he says yes. He has been offered to play the villain in the film.”
