Vidya Balan wins National Award for ‘The Dirty Picture’

Vidya Balan has been named as the winner of the Best Actress National Award for her stunning performance in the movie The Dirty Picture. The announcement of the 59th National Awards was made in New Delhi on Wednesday, March 7.

In The Dirty Picture released last year, Vidya Balan played the role of a film extra who is fiercely ambitious about striking fame and uses her sexuality to achieve success but ultimately finds herself alone in the end. Vidya has already swept the board at the popular awards in Bollywood for her performance in the movie.

Vidya Balan has won the Filmfare Award, Zee-Cine Award, Stardust Award and Apsara Award for ‘The Dirty Picture’. In other words, she has just killed the competition at the awards this year.

Talking about National Awards, director Onir’s film I AM was named the best Hindi film, while Amitabh Bhattacharya won the best lyrics award for the song “Agar Zindagi” in the film.

The National Awards have only been announced yet. They will be given to the recipients later on.
