Vidhu Vinod Chopra Tributes to Guru Dutt Via Documentary

After enjoying a success of 3Idiots, now director-producer, Vidhu Vinod Chopra wants to do something for Bollywood, so he has decided to make a documentary of the screenplays of some of the greatest films of Bollwyood. Vidhu will start with the documentary with Guru Dutt’s films to give him tribute.

Vidhu is big fan of Guru Dutt films. His production house is in the process of launching books with the screen of three of the veteran’s films; Chaudhvin Ka Chand, Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam and Kaagaz Ke Phool. Vidhu says,

“My production house had launched the screenplay of Lage Raho Munnabhai and lately, 3 Idiots. But somewhere I felt, there is no way to go back to these old pathbreaking movies. It is not all documented.”

Arun Dutt, son of Guru Dutt, seems to be very excited with Vidhu’s idea. He happily says,

“It is nice when people appreciate the films made by my father. I think documenting the screenplay and making it available for the masses is a very good idea.”

Vidhu is not interested whether these books will gain any profit. He said,

“I am not doing this for any commercial reason. Whatever profits the books make will go to the director’s family.”

The book will also include screenplay, deleted scenes, character sketches, reworked scenes and casting process in detail.

“A special team has been hired to take care that all the important details have been incorporated in the film. The team will add candid and on-set photographs into the book.”

After ‘3 Idiots’, films like ‘Muna Bhai MBBS’ and ‘Lage Raho Muna Bhai’ will be taken into account.
