Special Screening of 3 Idiots in UN

After passing months also, 3 Idiots is still appealing masses and the classes not in India, but also internationally. Recently, producer Rajkumar Hirani and writer Abhijat Joshi have plan to take the film at International level.

Both of them attended a special screening of the movie held at the UN headquarters in New York. As per sources,

“The department of management at the UN got in touch with director Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s office and requested a screening followed by a two- hour long session with the staff. They will focus on how the film has impacted their lives and how each character influences the education system.” Interestingly, when the UN sent out the invites, they expected only Indians to watch it. But about 700 people, including many non- Indians, turned up for the screening. Since the hall could accommodate only about 175 people, they had to move to another hall. But even this hall only had the capacity for 600 people.

Since the screening of the movie went long, so they cut short the question-answer session. Many of the Americans found the film very realistic.

“Their idea of Bollywood cinema was just song and dance. Most of the questions were about this film being very different.”

Talking of the screening and the session, Hirani says,

“Abhijat and I were overwhelmed by the response to the film in the US and the enthusiasm at the question-answer session. It was a humbling experience.”
