Sholay in 3D!

After three of its release, still Sholay rules on the heart the Indian audiences. If, you are fan of Sholay movie, then must feel happy that soon you will watch the movie in 3D. Yeah, that’s true, Mukta Arts, is in the process of turning the 1975 classic Sholay into a 3D film.

The company holds a stake in filmmaker Ketan Mehta’s Maya Digital that has already given a test show to the producers. The company is planning to make an announcement by the next month for the film. Subhash Ghai, filmmaker and owner of Mukta Arts, confirms the news,

“Yes, the producers are happy with the results of the test show and we are in discussions to make Sholay’s 3D version a reality.”

Directed by Ramesh Sippy and produced by his father GP Sippy, the film released on August 15, 1975. It starred Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra, Hema Malini,  Sanjeev Kumar,  Jaya Bachchan, and Amjad Khan.  However, Ramesh Sippy is clueless about the recent developments,

“I don’t know anything about the film being turned into 3D, but my best wishes to whoever is doing so.”

Mukta Arts is collaborating with Maya Digital on animation gaming, special effects and turning software and films from 2D to 3D.

“Since our partnership was formalised, several production houses have approached us to convert their films into 3D. We have set up a centre at Whistling Woods academy last month to promote 3D cameras. We’re also making our first 3D animation film under the banner.”
