Shahid pulls out of Maneesh Sharma’s next

Shahid Kapoor was sitting idle for a few months after Mausam and Teri Meri Kahaani and now all of a sudden he has five prestigious projects ready to roll.

Shahid was to start filming with Maneesh Sharma, the director of Band Baaja Baaraat in February. But Maneesh took ill and the film got deferred to September 7. Now sources confirm to us that there’s been yet another glitch and this time around Shahid was told the film would kickstart in October this year.

But the actor who has got four back-to-back projects has decided to back out of Maneesh’s film. Shahid will soon start work on Rajkumar Santoshi’s Phata Poster Nikla Hero with Ileana D’Cruz; Prabhudheva’s Namak with Sonakshi Sinha and a film each with Bejoy Nambiar who earlier did Shaitaan and Neeraj Panday, the director of A Wednesday.

One hears from sources that the parting between Maneesh and Shahid is amicable because the producers understood the actor’s predicament. And they have even promised him another film next year when he is relatively more free to accommodate them.

What is a bummer though is the fact that Shahid would have been the leading man of Vishal Bhardwaj’s Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola had he not committed to Maneesh Sharma at that point.
