Shahid in Mira Nair’s Next

Many Bollywood actresses, including Soha Ali Khan, Konkana Sen Sharma, Tabbu, have joined a crew of parallel cinema and now its turn for Shahid Kapoor to become a member of the Mira Nair’s crew. Mira Nair is planning to make a film on Pakistani man who lets go of his life of fame in America after a failed love affair and the 9/11 terrorist attacks. For that purpose, Mira has chosen Shahid Kapoor as protagonist.

The film will be based on Mohsin Hamid’s second novel, The Reluctant Fundamentalist published in 2007. If, Shahid says yes to Mira, this will be first time the actor will be doing an International film. Apparently, initially Mira wanted to Ranbir Kapoor for this role, who has a bearded man called Changez in the novel but later she realized that Shahid is more appropriate for the role. A source says,

“Between Ranbir and Shahid, Mira felt that Shahid had the intensity that the character required. While immensely appreciative of Ranbir’s talent, Mira thought that Shahid was better suited for this role.”

“Mira has already met Shahid. The actor loves the script. The necessary formalities are being worked out as both Mira and Shahid are extremely excited about the film and want to start working on it by early next year.”

It seems that after doing Kaminey, Shahid has impressed many directors and looking for various shades for character.
