Shah Rukh Khan buys Mumbai franchise of i1 Super Series

After becoming the owner of a Cricket team, Shah Rukh Khan is not entering in to the world of motorsports, Shah Rukh co-owns the Mumbai franchise of the upcoming racing league i1 Super Series, by Machdar Motorsports.

Shah rukh along with his partners of Indian Premier League franchise Kolkata Knight Riders, the Mehta Group, will take charge of one of the nine teams to take part in the city-based competition. The Series will have 9 teams representing 9 different cities from across the country and blaze alive the tracks, where two cars represent each team, one driver being a certified international motorist and the other a certified Indian driver, by mandate.

The organizers are excited and thrilled because of with Shah Rukh Khan’s involvement in the initiative of Machdar Motorsports as they see it as a big boost for the championship that will commence on 8th January, 2012.

According to Shah Rukh i1 Super Series is a very interesting concept as it gets racing drivers from across the globe to partner with young Indian talent and after the inaugural Indian GP it is clear that motorsports is hugely popular in India. He is also confident that this series will one of the biggest sporting events in India with its one of-a-kind concept.
