Qutub Minar for free to the cast of Jannat 2!

The cast and crew of ‘Jannat 2’ were allowed to shoot at the historic monument without paying money after local authorities botched up the previous day’s schedule.

To gain permission to shoot at or around the heritage structures of India could be quite a Herculean task. However, the local Delhi authorities welcomed the cast and crew of Kunal Deshmukh’s Jannat 2 with open arms, for a song sequence to be shot at the Qutub Minar.

The crew was in fact allowed to occupy the space for free. But this only after the crew had to cancel an entire day’s shoot due to a miscommunication on the part of the local authorities.

Says director Kunal Deshmukh,

We were shooting a love song with Emraan Hashmi and Esha Gupta at the Qutab Minar area. What we didn’t know that on a Friday, school children are allowed in the area, for free for a school trip. And that day there were two to three school field trips. To make matters worse most of them were girls. They saw Emraan and the crowds went out of control.

The authorities then realised that it was actually their responsibility to have had informed the film crew about the school students. Though the police personnel present at the location tried to manage the crowds, it was apparently impossible to continue shooting.

Adds Deshmukh,

The kids did not create any ruckus, but just wanted to watch the shoot. Emraan spoke to them and requested them to move, but they refused to budge. As a result, they had little choice but to cancel the days shoot.

Adds a source,

The authorities realised that it would be a huge loss for them if they had to go through the whole process once again and hence let them shoot the song the next day without any fee.
