Katrina Continues ‘Grunge’ tredition

Like other actresses, also Katrina has been experimenting with her look in her films, she carried a desi look in Sheila Ki Jawani, a Biker in Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, and now a Grunge look in her upcoming film Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, she carries this look for a rockstar act in the song ‘Dhunki’,

Stylist says,

Before Katrina, quite a few other leading ladies have gone through this avtar, some with successful and a few with not-to-successful results, Aishwarya Rai’s look in Dhoom 2 stays on to be the most popular of them all, especially in the song ‘Dhoom Macha Le’ where she had taken the grunge route with a vengeance as she matched steps with Hrithik. That stays on to be unforgettable and has pretty much stayed on to be a benchmark.

Talking about Katrina’s look in Chhaliya and Dil Dance Maare from Tashan, Stylist says,

It was more of a rockstar hippie look and could have actually gone a long distance had the film being successful”, the stylist continues, “However it was quite a sport on Kareena’s part to actually carry off that look.

A fellow actor said,

This is a first for Katrina and she has carried it off pretty well, A look like this is always a dicey affair since it could go either ways. Thankfully it has been balanced well as is pretty much in synch with the setting of ‘Dhunki’ which is at Taj Mahal. It’s a fusion of ‘desi’ and ‘videshi’ flavour that Katrina has carried off with aplomb.

In some senior actors opinion,

They have a thing for the grunge, They showed hints of that in Dil To Paagal Hai as well where Madhuri had danced in a grunge look for a sequence or two. The experiment didn’t quite work though with a newbie like Tanisha Mukerjee for Neal ‘N’ Nikki or Rani Mukerji in Ta Ra Rum Pum where she tried to take this route in the song ‘Ab To Forever’. However Preity Zinta and Lara Dutta compensated for that during a few key scenes in Jhoom Barabar Jhoom. Katrina should now be taking the tradition further.
