Some media reports had conveyed sometime back that Ayushmann Khurana turned down a film offered to him by Kunal Kohli and alleged that it was because Ayushmann didn’t want to work with newcomers. The actor, however, has a different story and says,
It is my first negative story and I should get used to it. However, I was completely misinterpreted.
In fact, Kohli had even written on a micro-blogging site:
Not doing the film with Ayushman. We discuss projects with various people some happen, some don’t. No big deal. Ayushmans reasons were demeaning to other actresses. Sad a newcomer thinks likes that. Real stars/actors don’t. Anyway, moving on 🙂 Also I was looking to produce a small film with him. Budget didn’t work out. I’d rather concentrate on other projects. Just to clarify I was NOT directing the proposed Ayushman film. Sad he’s projecting it like this to get publicity.
To this, Ayushmann responds,
Things went out of proportion. I could have tweeted back but my upbringing did not allow that. I have learnt to respect elders and certain people have certain opinions. It is okay now. For a good film we need a superstar or a superscript. And since I am not the former, what is the harm in wanting to act with talented and beautiful actresses?
Talk about newcomers being preferred in Bollywood now and he says,
It is the golden age of Indian cinema. It is easier to get into films from television as there are a lot of opportunities now.
The actor is busy with Rohan Sippy’s Nautanki Saala and will start assisting Shoojit Sircar in Madras Cafe which was earlier titled Jaffna.
I am not acting in Madras Cafe; only assisting Shoojit. Also, I am not a part of Tere Bin Laden 2 as has been reported.
The actor says he idolises Shahrukh Khan,
It is good to idolise people. I look up to SRK. He has made a mark on his own without anybody’s help.
