I had tears in my eyes. I am really happy: Amir Khan

Pilot episode of “Satyamev Jayate” dealt with the topic of Female feticide and brought lump in the throats of millions. The star Amir Khan evoked wide range of emotions and wanted to replicate the same phenomenon created by “Ramayan” and “Mahabharat” on every Sunday morning.

“I was watching the show with my wife, the core team of the show and son Azad. I don’t know how much Azad understood. I had tears in my eyes. I got good response for the show through industry people, various people, and twitter reactions. Even our website crashed because of the traffic,”

Amir added.

Satyamev Jayate went on for one and a half hour simultaneously on Star plus and Doordarshan . In order to reach the remote areas where television sets are not available, special screening of the show were held in some villages of Maharashtra, UP and Gujarat.

The Pilot episode not only showcased the unethical practice of Female Feticide but also gave the ways to prevent it. Viewers liked the show and gave thumbs up, saying that it’s a hard hitting show, hitting directly the emotional chord.

The show’s success can be estimated from the fact that the official site crashed due to huge traffic and twitter accounted 2254 tweets even before the episode wrapped up.
