Gautam Rajadhyaksha born in Mumbai on 16 September 1950 who became a celebrity photographer, he was known for his Portraitist photography, he clicked almost all of the celebrities in the industry, cousin of novelist Shobha De,

Gautam Rajadhyaksha schooled from St. Xavier’s High School in fort, and in college he took Chemistry subject in St. Xavier’s College, The cousin of novelist Shobha De passed away on 13th september 2011 early morning at 4:00 am because of heart attack at the age of 61 years.

After graduation from St. Xavier’s college, he opted for diploma in advertising and public relation, after completing that he joined the photo services department of Lintas India Ltd, it was a leading advertising agency in 1974, after joining Lintas, soon he became the head of the department. After this their was no looking back, in the 15 years span of his career he saw success while continuing his chilehood passion of photography over the weekends,

His first ever photoshoot happened in 1980, his first big assignment was to shoot pictures of actress Shabana Azmi, Shabana Azmi was his college mate, he also shoot Tina Munim and Jackie Shroff, after this he left the advertising job in 1987 and took up the commercial photography as full time profession,

He also did product campaigns, media assignments and fashion portfolios whn he was working with Lintas, he was invited by his cousin Shobha De to write for her magazine ‘Celebrity’, after that he started shooting for his articles, this was the time when he was noticed and acclaimed as a glamour photographer,

After that he started working for other magazines including ‘The Illustrated Weekly of India’, ‘Stardust’, ‘Cineblitz’ and ‘Filmfare’. He was credited for discovering faces like Tina Munim, Salman Khan and Indian Supermodel Sheetal Mallar,

He also did television talk shows, he also did editing of Marathi entertainment he also was writing popular column named ‘Manas Chitra’ in a leading Marathi news daily.

His writing was also appreciated by the celebrities, in 1997 he released his book named ‘Faces’ that contained 45 film personalities starting from Durga Khote, one of India’s first ladies of the Indian cinema and ending with the beauty queen former Miss World Aishwarya Rai,

He was not just famous in celebrities but also musicians, writers, sportstars and industrialists were and are fans of his portraits,

He has also won great critical acclaim and a permanent place in the history of post Independence Indian photography.
In 1992,

He also had written screenplay for bollywood film ‘Bekhudi’ which was actress Kajol’s debut film, and after that Anjaam which had big names Shah Rukh Khan and Madhuri Dixit,

His photography exhibitions first held in Pune displaying his twenty years as a photography work, and thn Goa and Kolhapur attracted huge crowds and his exhibitions in San Francisco, London, Birmingham and Dubai, have opened to appreciative crowds.

This Ace photographer will be missed by everyone for a warm person he was and the great work he has done in the Industry.
