When real parents come on screen with their children; tears and emotions will come out naturally. The same thing happened on the set of Hema Malini’s Tell Me Oh Khuda when papa Dharmendra came in front of daughter Esa Deol.
The story started when Esha Deol and Dharmendra have a scene together and Esha has a dialogue, ‘You’re the best father in the world’, in which Dharmendra’s emotional response was, ‘…and you’re the best daughter in the world’. Then, it was natural both daughter, Esha broke down and father Dharm joined her as tears welled up in his eyes as well.
This is the first time, when Esha is working with her father, Dharmendra in Tell Me Oh Khuda, which was as much a nightmare as a dream comes true. She said,
“Mom’s really strong. It was an emotional moment for her as well, though she didn’t show it.”
Esha was surprised to learn that Dharmendra has never relied on glycerine when it came to shooting tearful scenes. The actress said,
“But that day was special, with me thoda zyada ho gaya, something just gave way and I cried. Maybe it was those words that I had bottled up inside me and wanted to say to Dad all these years,”
Now, Dharmendra is having a holiday in Goa along with Hema and daughters. Only Ahana is missing, she’s busy with her new boutique, but will join the family after the shooting. Dharmendra said,
“Working with Esha, I was doubly emotional since this was the first time I was seeing her acting… and that too with me.”
Initially, he was reluctant to accept this role, but Esha persuaded him. Dharmendra said
“One can never say no to one’s children.”
