Controversy Behind Prakash Jha’s Rajneeti

Filmmaker Prakash Jha is confused by the Board’s refusal to grant his political drama ‘Rajneeti’ a certificate. He also stated that the film has nothing to do with real life politics or politicians.

Actor Ranbir Kapoor seconded the director saying that the film is not half as controversial as it is being made out to be and said,

“There is no controversial content in the film and it’s fictional

Explaining about the plot of the movie, Prakash Jha says,

“I have just made a film about an election. It is not about Bihar or Sonia Gandhi or the Congress, so I don’t understand the whole controversy. It is a contrary to popular belief the film is not a “preachy drama” which slings mud on politics.”

As per sources, Jha is also facing a problem with Censor board on a certificate to be given to his film, Rajneeti. But he denied the problem and said,

“There is a [censor] board category dispute going on whether a U or a U/A certificate is to be given to the film. There is a difference of opinion there for the voting of the category of the film.”

The film starring Katrina Kaif, Ajay Devgn, Ranbir Kapoor, Nana Patekar and Manoj Bajpai, is set to hit theatres on June 4, but the censor’s stand may jeopardize the release.
