Anurag Kashyap files complaint against fake casting director

Phantom Films, producers of Anurag Kashyap’s ” Bombay Velvet”, have filed a complaint with the Versova police in Mumbai against one Varun Gupta for duping aspiring actors as the casting director of the film.

The accused was apparently sending messages to girls of small towns, inviting them to send their portfolios for the casting of the second female lead in the film. According to the message circulated by Gupta, an audition was to be held in Delhi on September 10 and in Mumbai on September 16 for the same.

The issue came to light when the casting director of the film, Mukesh Chabbra was intimated by some of his friends from the industry that Gupta was sending messages saying that they were looking for the second female lead for the film to star opposite Anil Kapoor’s son, Harshvardhan.

I got the shock of my life when I saw this message. Since the message also mentioned the BB pin of the sender, I got in touch with him. When he realised that I was the casting director for the film, he deleted me from his contact list. I informed Anurag about this, who has taken necessary action against the man.

says Chabbra.

Confirming the action, Anurag Kashyap said that he had lodged a complaint against Varun who was deceiving people by sending these messages.

Even the name of Harshvardhan Kapoor as the second male lead is false, since he is assisting me in the film rather than acting in it. The only information I have about this man is from from his FB account. As far as the film is concerned, we have decided on Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma as the main leads.

says Anurag.
