Another GodFather by Anurag Kashyap

Indian Filmmakers are quite inspired by Mario Puzo’s “The Godfather” and several have made its adaptation now and then. Be it Feroze Khan’s Dharmatma, Ram Gopal Verma’s Sarkar or Prakash Jha’s Rajneeti. Now Anurag Kashyap is bringing another adaptation of it with the title “Gangs of Wasseypur”. This time the story is not on political scenario but on the mafia who holds a strong control on the coalmines of Dhanbad.

A production of UTV, the movie will go on the floor in July. It will be made in two parts as two feature films which will be shot simultaneously. Kashyap wanted to shoot his fim in Dhanbad, but he didn’t get the permission of shooting there by the government. Now the movie will be shot in Singhaul, Bihar.

Manoj Bajpai is playing the owner of the coalmine portraying the character of Marlon Brando’sDon Corleone. Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Piyush Mishra and a newcomer Raj Yadav are also starring in the movie. Shabana Azmi is also likely to play a major role.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui who will visit Dhanbad secretly to research on Kashyap’s dream project says,

“It has been my secret desire to play Al Pacino’s role someday.  We start shooting July-end. It’s a fantasy come true
