Amitabh’s Second Trip for Gujarat Tourism

As we have already reported you guys that Amitabh Bachchan has been exploring Gujarat because the megastar has been appointed as Gujarat’s Tourism Brand Ambassador; and now, the actor has started his second venture of exploring Gujarat.

This week, Sr. Bachchan walked barefoot and spun the charkha (spinning wheel) atMahatma Gandhi’s Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad, where he has been shooting for the second phase of advertisements for Gujarat Tourism. The actor posted on his blog,

“I removed my shoes by the road and walked about barefoot, even though all others do not. It is not required that they do so but I could not somehow make myself to not go barefoot. The sanctity and the purity of the premises just prompted me to do it.”

“I sat with the lone figure of an inmate of the trust that runs the ashram as he spun the ‘charkha’ and produced the fibre for khadi. I tried my hand at it. It is a simple yet intricate procedure of weaving the thread and the extreme joy of having been so close to that most identifiable element of the Mahatma, overpowered all other thoughts.”

The 67-year-old actor was also down with the memory lanes of his birth place, Allahabad, while visiting Gujarat. The superstar blogged that there are still open spaces in houses in his home town and it felt the same as he moved around the Ashram barefoot.

“Cemented and pebbled by today’s modern standards, the ground has lost its feel of mother earth. When your bare feet touch the soil, there is a certain nakedness about the moment, a certain oneness with nature. Wearing the shoe may demonstrate the progress or the social change within the country, but there is and shall always be that raw feel when barefooted, which can never be replaced.”
