What with the mixed responses that De Dhana Dan got, can simply not justify the exorbitant prices that are being paid to the leading actors.Even though a Hindi film is being made at a budget greater than ever before, but still the star fees make up most of the budget, and the ratio to which these fees are increasing are not at all in proportion with the increase in revenue.
A Bollywood expert states, “Stars like Akshay Kumar demand – and, surprisingly, get upto Rs. 25 crore for a film.
But it is also important that, our actors realise that the business of our films has not increased so much that a film can be burdened with a Rs. 20 or 25 crore fee of the leading man! “
Other than the direct increase in the budget and resultantly, the burden on the film-makers, it is also imporatnt to realise the impact which this hike indirectly has, that of a resultant increase in the price demanded by other actors and actresses too across the industry, and thus the fact that many of these over-burdening over-budget movies end up crashing at the Box Office.
Thus, it is felt that As Akshay Kumar started the trend of demanding crazy prices, it would be in order if he also took the lead in reversing that trend too.
