Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia D’Souza are a much married couple now and after a short break, they would be resuming promotion of their upcoming film ‘Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya’. With continued attention on their marriage closely followed by the release of their film, it is expected that the two way hype would end up helping the film.

As such both Genelia as well as I have been very private about our relationship. We spoke about our marriage only for a few weeks before it actually took place. Otherwise you wouldn’t have ever seen me discussing my personal matters,says Riteish, “We were never comfortable sharing the most minute of the marriage details since that was meant to be a very private affair.

He is happy to speak of his own plans though when asked about the hectic phase he is currently going through.

“Yeah, I have been ultra busy,” he says,

I am promoting one film (Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya) and dubbing another (Housefull 2). Then I also played in CCL. To top it up all, there were wedding preparations and other plans as well. So yes, all of it pretty much came together.

Still, doesn’t he feel that it wasn’t probably a good idea to bring his film and marriage together in the same month?

See, everything has it’s dates and deadlines, whether it is a personal or a professional event. Things are set and planned for a long time as per people’s conveyance and time table. If you look at it this way, even though marriage and my film are coming in the same month, CCL was always planned for the same month as well. It is plain coincidence that everything has come together now.

Saif’s Agent Vinod to become a franchise?

Even before the release of the much-awaited action-spy movie Agent Vinod, actor Saif Ali Khan has expressed his desire of making it a franchise.

Produced by Saif under the banner of Illuminati Films, Agent Vinod features Saif along with his real life lady-love Kareena Kapoor.

If Agent Vinod turns out to be a box-office hit, then Saif would consider making sequels to it, much like the James Bond series, of which, approximately 22 films have been made so far.

When asked about it, Saif said,

Hope so, if the film does well and audiences likes it. If it is popular, then of course we will look forward to making it a series.

The Sriram Raghavan-directed venture, which was beset with teething problems in its early stages, will finally release on March 23.

Sanjay Dutt dons ribbed look in Zilla Ghaziabad

This is going to be an action-packed year for Sanjay Dutt. After a bone-crunching killing spree in Mandwa (in Agneepath), the actor recently filmed a hard-hitting climax for his next film, Zilla Ghaziabad, in which he plays a heroic cop, modelled on Thakur Pritam Singh.

Fondly known as the Badshah of Bulandshahr in his ‘zilla’ (district), Singh was gunned down in 1998. It was believed that the land and liquor mafia he was targeting had plotted his assassination.

However, the tough part about this role is the change in Sanjay’s workout regime. The actor spent the last many months putting on muscle to look like the larger-than-life Kancha Cheena.

Kancha was a very strong character. The idea was to take a simple boy-next-door, Vijay, and throw him in front of this evil giant, and eventually have him slay this Goliath, like a modern-day David. I had to really build muscle.

explains Sanjay.

I set up a whole gym in Diu which Hrithik (Roshan) was thrilled to see when he arrived. We ended up working out together during the shoot. I even cooked for him — food like soup, grilled fish and steamed veggies.

Kancha demanded institutional training and workouts that required Sanjay to lift a lot of weights. But Zilla Ghaziabad, he admits, called for a different plan. “This guy is not as huge as Kancha, he’s more ribbed, and that means more hours of cardio.

points out the Bollywood actor, who’s currently celebrating the success of Agneepath, this year’s first blockbuster.

The last two years, he candidly admits, haven’t been great. But he’s hit a jackpot in early 2012 and is hoping that the winning streak continues with Zilla Ghaziabad and Ajay Devgn’s action-comedy SOS — Son Of Sardar.

Even though he’s such a hit, it’ll be a relief leaving Kancha behind. He terrified me, I had to keep telling myself, ‘This isn’t me!

he says.

And what’s the score on Badri? He bought the Hindi remake rights to Pawan Kalyan’s Telugu superhit and gifted it to friend Ajay Devgn to compensate for the commercial failure of Rascals. “Yes, I’m producing the film, we’re working on it. As to when we start, it will depend entirely on Ajay,” says Sanjay. “If he wants it to be his next film after SOS, we’ll flag it off this year, otherwise it can roll next year. It’s Ajay’s call.”

Ganesh Hegde talks about joys of fatherhood

After 2011, which he calls a wonderful year, choreographer Ganesh Hegde is enthusiastic about 2012 turning out even better. For starters, he and his wife Sunayna will welcome their first child, in March.

Besides, on the work-front, he’ll be making his debut as an actor and director too. Not to forget a series of shows and tours for his album, of which a new video goes on air this Sunday.

Ganesh tells us that their first priority is that the baby should be healthy and the mother should be fine.

After that we’ll think of the names. However, we’ve done plenty of shopping for the mother and the baby on our holiday to Macau last November.

The ace choreographer who won an award for getting maximum votes in an online poll that saw responses from 176 countries, Ganesh asserts that they will bring up their child with “our Indian values”.

He adds,

I know how tough it must have been for my parents… from a lower middle class family. So while I’ll give all the possible luxuries to our child, I’ll make sure that he/she learns all aspects of our culture.

Stressing on the importance of family bonding, Ganesh says, “I’ll be letting fatherhood sink in by spending a couple of weeks at home, with my baby.”

Of course, there’s plenty of work happening too, as he’s planning a series of shows and club tours in India, Dubai, Amsterdam and other cities.

Sonu Sood finds boxing unsafe for actors

Actor Sonu Sood, who became popular as Chhedi Singh in the blockbuster “Dabangg”, won’t mind playing a boxer on the big screen but in real life he would like to stay away from the boxing ring.

If you are an actor, than it is not very safe to do boxing. We do it in films, but that is definitely not real action. If the actors get injured, the producers face a lot of loss.

Sonu said at a World Series of Boxing match here.

Talking about taking up a boxer’s role in reel, he said: “Definitely, why not. Many scripts come where the character of a boxer is offered, but like I said, you need to be prepared for it… you better get prepared as an actor,” he said.

Meanwhile, Sonu is busy shooting for “Maximum” with Naseerudin Shah and his home production “Lucky Unlucky” with Mallika Sherawat.

Mallika shapes up to play Jat sprinter

There’s something about Mallika. The only Bollywood actor to get honorary citizenship from the Los Angeles City Council in 2009, she was also recently awarded a special citation in her name. Present at the event was a former Japanese Prime Minister, who was so wowed by Jackie Chan’s co-star in The Myth (2005) that he, along with the rest of his delegation, took her to the media room for a photo op, inviting her to their country for a special visit.

Sherawat says that she would love to visit Japan, but for now, her focus is on India, rather, her home state of Haryana. In one of her forthcoming movies, Lucky Unlucky, Mallika plays a Jat sprinter and admits that she has already started shaping up for the role. “I have a trainer in LA, working out with me. I’ve always been pro-fitness and a vegan with a healthy lifestyle, but for this movie, that’s not enough. I need to get myself an athlete’s body with the grace of a sprinter,” she points out.

Buzz is that the film is a biopic, but Mallika denies this:

It’s a fictitious account, but the character I’m playing is very real. It’s an absolutely fabulous script. I was laughing all through the narration.

She points out that it’s heart-warming for her to see so many female gold medallists emerging from her small, obscure home state.

Thanks to the Jat machismo, the women in Haryana have been subdued and subjugated for ages. But now, my sisters are stepping out of their homes onto the international stage, and making a niche for themselves. It makes me so happy, and with this film, I hope I can be a role icon for them. Look at me. I never had a father, godfather or a lover pushing my case. Yet, I have walked the corridors of the White House, the red carpet at Cannes and the Oscars and made a name in both, Bollywood and Hollywood. If I can do it alone, they can too.

Farhan defends Akshaye Khanna’s joke

A few days ago, Akshaye Khanna made news for being “upset” with his friend and Dil Chahta Hai (2001) director Farhan Akhtar. Khanna had stated that he was “angry with all of them”, including Farhan and Race director duo Abbas-Mustan, for not offering him roles in their new films.

But ask Farhan about the outburst and he defends his colleague, saying,

There’s nothing to be offended by. I know Akshaye really well. And sometimes, people misunderstand his humour.

The director-actor insists that Akshaye has already joked with him before.

He has told me the same thing in person, ‘I am very upset with you. You have never worked with me again.’ But that’s Akshaye and he’s a dear friend.

Farhan says.

Ask whether the public rant will discourage him from casting Akshaye in the future, and he replies to the contrary: “I would love to work with him again and he knows that. We have tried to make things work (in the past) but they just didn’t. It’s a matter of time (before we work together),” says Farhan.

Farhan also hit headlines recently for another reason – attending Salman Khan’s 46th birthday party.

People forget that we have known each other for many years, and tend to overlook that amidst all the chaos that’s going on in the industry. What’s significant is that if someone invites me and I know him well, then I will go. I have a great relationship with him, so why should I not attend the party?.

First acting, then photography and now journalism: Bollywood’s talented actor Imran Khan seems to have a knack for everything. Offering a few tips for today’s journalists, Imran suggests a good interview should be like a good conversation instead of being an ‘exam sheet’.

Most journalists have an exam sheet which comprises – what is your favourite colour, your favourite holiday destination, what you like to do in your free time. This is not an interview, this is a questionnaire. I feel to make a good interview, be it print, radio or TV, it has to be a conversation. Fifty percent of the job is yours, half the job is mine. That is how you make a good interview.

The actor revealed if ever given an opportunity, he would love to interview actor Salman Khan who, according to him, rarely opens up.

Imran’s ‘Ek Main aur Ekk Tu’ is to be released on February 10 and stars Kareena Kapoor, Boman Irani, Ram Kapoor and Ratna Pathak Shah.

We are close and comfortable with each other: Prateik on Amy

Even as rumor mills are abuzz with the growing proximity between Bollywood actor Prateik Babbar and Amy Jackson, he says, though she is very hard to be pleased, they are very close and comfortable with each other.

Ever since Prateik and Amy started shooting for Gautham Menon’s romantic film, ‘Ekk Deewana Tha’, which releases on February 17, gossip mongers have been chirping about the couple dating each other.
Commenting on the talks about him dating Amy, Prateik said, “She is a very hard girl to please…to be honest.”

Prateik has been spotted with Amy arm-in-arm at various award ceremonies and events.

When you have to shoot something like this (romantic film) then you have no choice but to have a chemistry. We are extremely close, we support each other’s career, we back and help each other. There is obviously chemistry, but we worked on it and I hope people appreciate it. We are close and comfortable with each other.

As he has been often spotted in Amy’s building, there were reports that Prateik has moved in with Amy and lives with her in her Bandra home.

I feel good about it. She is beautiful…isn’t she. If speculation about me moving with her goes, then I am happy about it. But no, we haven’t.

British model-turned-actress Amy Jackson, has described the latter as someone who is “very close” and “special” to her.

Prateik and me are very very close. I must say Prateik is very special to me. We shot for our movie for five months and obviously we shared good chemistry since it s a romantic movie.

she said.

I believe I can become an actor on my own. And I don’t need any rumours to help me do that.

But would she consider dating Prateik? The Bollywood newbie said “Most girls would be happy dating him.”
