Sagarika Ghatge Biography

Sagarika Ghatge (born 8 January, 1986) is an Indian film actress best known for her debut role as Preeti Sabarwal in the Bollywood movie, Chak De! India.

Ghatge was born in Kolhapur, Maharashtra to a Maratha family. Ghatge attended Chatrapati Shahu Vidyalaya School till grade 8, and completed her 10th and 12th grades at Mayo College Girls School in Ajmer, Rajasthan. She graduated from HR college, Mumbai.

In 2007, Ghatge portrayed Preeti Sabarwal, a fictional member of the Indian women’s national hockey team, in the movie, Chak De! India. Her impressive acting lead her to become the brand ambassador of Reebok India. She has done Photo shoots for various Fashion Magazines and has also walked the ramp for various fashion shows. Ghatge appeared in the 2009 film, Fox as Urvashi Mathur. She later portrayed Kamiah in Miley Naa Miley Hum. Ghatge’s first lead role is opposite Emraan Hashmi in the upcoming movie Rush, which is currently filming it’s final stages and is scheduled to be released on October 24, 2012.

For her role in Chak De! India, Ghatge received the Screen Award for Best Supporting Actress alongside all the Chak De! Girls. She was also rewarded with a Lions Gold Award.
